SchoolCare was founded in 1995 as the New Hampshire School Health Care Coalition by bringing together associations representing public entity management and labor groups in the state. The Coalition was formed in response to issues of providing employee health care, including quality, choice, cost control and service that public entities were facing. Today, over twenty-five years later, SchoolCare is still a well-regarded resource for public entities facing these same issues.

New! SchoolCare Group Medicare Advantage Plan
SchoolCare is pleased to introduce SchoolCare 65+ Advantage, a Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) Prescription Drug plan through UnitedHealthcare®, that will replace the SchoolCare 65+ consumer-driven health plan beginning January 1, 2023. SchoolCare 65+ Advantage is a customized health care and prescription drug plan that delivers all the benefits of your current SchoolCare plans with the elimination of paying the Part B deductible, addition of vision and hearing aid coverage, and offers other benefits and features, including a new retiree-specific wellness program.
This is not your ordinary Medicare Advantage plan
The SchoolCare 65+ Advantage plan is not the Medicare Advantage plan you see advertised on television. This plan is customized specifically to meet exceptional value and quality SchoolCare provides to its retirees. It provides:
- Nationwide coverage
- Prescription drug benefits through OptumRx pharmacy
- One routine eye exam and a $100 allowance toward glasses or contacts every 12 months
- An annual hearing exam and $500 hearing aid allowance every three years
- A comprehensive retiree-focused health and wellness program
- Significant monthly cost savings and a price lock through December 2025
How does this affect my current coverage?
As of January 1, 2023, the SchoolCare 65+ Consumer Driven plan will no longer be available. All participants of the consumer driven plan will be automatically enrolled in SchoolCare 65+ Advantage. If you do not wish to enroll in this program, (I NEED MORE INFORMATION.) You must make this request before the open enrollment period ends on DATE.
How can I learn more?
SchoolCare has sent a letter to the addresses on file for all of its retirees announcing the new plan, including an FAQ document that can also be found here. It has also been sent via email. If you have not received the letter, please contact Member Care to request a new copy. SchoolCare and UnitedHealthcare have scheduled in-person educational meetings in locations around the state and two virtual learning opportunities in October to align with open enrollment
