Published June 10, 2026

There are fewer than 3 weeks until the 2026-27 plan year begins, which means now is the time to check a few things off your health and wellness to-do list before your SchoolCare health benefits reset on July 1, 2026. Here are 5 things to consider during this transition period.

1. Spend Your Remaining FSA Dollars

If you’re enrolled in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), check your balance and make a plan to use your remaining funds. FSAs are “use-it-or-lose-it” accounts, although some employers offer a grace period or rollover option. If you're unsure of your deadline – contact your employer ASAP to inquire what your FSA allows so you don’t lose money.

Eligible expenses go far beyond prescriptions and copays. You can also stock up on FSA-approved items like:

  • Sunscreen
  • First aid supplies
  • Cold and allergy meds
  • Eye-glasses, prescription sunglasses or contact lenses/lens solution
  • Feminine products and more

Visit the FSA Store for list of eligible products. These can also be purchased at stores locally.

2. Use Your VSP Vision Hardware Allowance

If you have VSP supplemental vision coverage, don’t let your annual benefit go unused!

Take advantage of your:

  • Up to $150 allowance on glasses (or $200 on featured frame brands)
  • 20% savings on costs above your allowance
  • $150 annual allowance for contact lenses

Even if your prescription hasn’t changed, it’s a great time to update your frames or order an extra supply of contacts. See your full benefits here.

3. Earn Good For You! Well-Being Program Incentives/Spend Wellness Cash

If you have not yet earned your $600 maximum in Good For You! Well-Being Program incentives, you still have time to earn some or all of what’s left. You might:

You can also still earn any rewards for preventive care you might have scheduled this month, including:

  • Annual physicals
  • Biometric screenings
  • Certain cancer screenings
  • OB-GYN visits

If your earnings haven’t processed by June 30, don’t worry! You will still earn available cash for this year – it will just be applied to your account when your claim processes.

If you have completed preventive care earlier in the year, but never took your Health Assessment, that cash may be waiting to be claimed. You must complete the health assessment by June 15th at the latest as it can take a couple weeks to connect to your account.

View the Wellness Rewards Guide to review ways you can still earn your max Wellness Cash before the plan year ends.

Spend your Wellness Cash

You've earned it - now spend it on something nice for yourself or donate it to a good cause! Watch this video or view this guide for more information on where to access your Wellness Cash and your options for spending it. Wellness Cash does roll over from one year to the next and can be spent at any time.

Keep in mind if you are leaving SchoolCare this month (or at any time in the year), you have 30 days from your last date of coverage to spend your Wellness Cash.

4. Set a Reminder in Your Calendar for July 1 to Complete Your Health Assessment for 2026-27

You must complete the Cigna online health assessment annually to earn Wellness Cash for participating in the Good For You! Well-Being Program AND for subscribers on the Yellow Plan with Choice Fund this is a requirement to activate your Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), also known as the Choice Fund.

Please note that it may take up to a few days for your Health Assessment to show as complete and up to two weeks for your HRA to load, so completing the Health Assessment as soon as possible is recommended for timely deposit of your HRA. If you are billed for any appointments or need to fill any prescriptions before your HRA is activated in your account, you do have options for reimbursement or reprocessing of your claims. 5. Plan Care for Next Year

The changeover of a plan year is a good time to review your care from the last 12 months and plan ahead for the year to come. Preventive care is one of the best ways to keep your health on track and most preventive care is available at no additional out-of-pocket cost to you. When you complete your health assessment for the 2026-27 plan year, you can use the personalized recommendations that come from it to help you set a care plan for the next 12 months, including annual physicals, preventive cancer screenings, vaccinations, eye exams, dental care and more.

If you need a new provider you can use the Find Care and Costs menu in your myCigna portal, or even see a virtual provider for your annual physical with MDLIVE.

You can also review the 2026-27 Enrollment Guide for more about your SchoolCare Health Benefits and details about some new benefits coming in July.
