SchoolCare 65+

SchoolCare-65+-2022

SchoolCare Retirees have two plans to choose from: SchoolCare 65+ Advantage Plan and SchoolCare 65+ Traditional Plan.

Advantage Plan

The SchoolCare 65+ Advantage Plan is a custom UnitedHealthcare® Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) plan with medical and prescription coverage designed exclusively for SchoolCare retirees. It should not be confused with individual UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans that might be available in your area. All Medicare-approved services are provided with no deductible or copay. Prescription drug coverage has no deductible, a broad formulary including medications not covered by Medicare Part D, and low to moderate copays.
The plan provides coverage throughout the U.S.

Additional benefits include:

  • Coverage of the cost of the Medicare Part B deductible
  • Routine vision coverage with a $100 allowance for hardware
  • 50-80% off hearing aids plus a $500 benefit
  • Thousands of standard network pharmacies nationwide and mail order through OptumRx
  • Members who qualify for Extra Help may receive a reduction in prescription copays and monthly premium reimbursements from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
  • Many add-on benefits including a retiree-focused wellness program, at-home wellness visit, personal emergency response system and more

For more in-depth information about the Advantage Plan, including benefit summaries, searchable provider and pharmacy databases, enrollment information and more, please visit UnitedHealthcare’s SchoolCare-specific website.

Traditional Plan

The SchoolCare 65+ Traditional plan is a Medicare Supplement plan provided by United American. It is a standard Medicare Plan G supplement that does not include a Part D prescription drug plan. The SchoolCare 65+ Traditional Plan covers the portion of the cost for Medicare-approved services not paid by Medicare. Medicare is the primary payer, and United American pays second. If a service is covered by Medicare, the SchoolCare 65+ Traditional Plan will cover all deductibles and coinsurance after the Part B deductible is met.
