Good mental health is vitally important to our overall health and well-being, yet we often don’t give it the attention it needs. Whether you are having trouble finding a local provider accepting new patients for counseling, feel like you can’t find the time in your busy schedule or maybe you don’t even know where to start, your SchoolCare/Cigna health benefits offer a wide variety of mental health support.

From times when you may just be feeling a little off and want to add more mindfulness to your day to times when you or a loved one may need more one-on-one coaching or counseling, there are virtual options to help fit into your busy life.

You can easily get started by simply logging in to your myCigna portal for some guided assistance.

Cigna’s Guided Navigation for Behavioral Health Makes it Easy

When you log in to your myCigna portal (if you don’t have a login yet, create one here) and hover over the Wellness tab, there is a menu topic called “mental health support.”

This will take you to “Guided Navigation” that will help you find the best match for what you are looking for. Guided Navigation is free and confidential and will prompt you to take a very short assessment that asks how you are feeling today and what area you are looking for support in. Based on your answers, it will help identify resources that you have available to you through your Cigna medical plan.

Some of these resources are at no added cost to you, while others come with varying costs depending on your plan and whether you are paying a co-pay, coinsurance or deductible.

Resources include:

  • Virtual therapy, psychiatry and coaching services
  • Digital resources
  • 24-hour virtual behavioral health care
  • On-demand coaching

Get connected to a virtual counselor

If you are simply looking for options to get connected with a counselor, you can login to myCigna, click the “Talk to a Doctor” image, select counseling and choose your treatment area or click “Skip” to find a full list of virtual counseling options at your disposal. There are options for phone support, video chat and even texting.

As always, if you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact your doctor, call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org to reach a 24-hour crisis center, text MHA to 741741, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.
